SEO Plugin for WordPress – A Look At ScribeSEO

  • Written by Joel

There’s a new SEO plugin for WordPress called ScribeSEO by Brian Clark from Copyblogger. There are still a few bugs but looks like it could be brilliant and is already very useful. A free trial is available as the plugin is based on the number of times you use it, and at the moment you can get the first ten uses for free.

If you want more info on the factors that go into search rankings, take a look at the search engine ranking factors for 2009 from SEOmoz. I bet you’ll be surprised with what you read on there, and how little actual page content is thought to have to do with it.

Get the free trial from ScribeSEO and take it for a test run. It attempts to make SEO copywriting much more simple than it is now, and while you still need to pay attention to creating good headlines and interesting content, it may help with the final optimization steps that you’ve been missing.

  • Brian you have your name associated with ethical marketing and developing online communities and you behave like this?
  • This is an excellent comment. It definitely doesn’t look good when a business person is more interested in addressing possible “libel” and any money they are losing as a result, as opposed to better serving their customers and improving their services/products.
  • On a side note I notice my subscription to Third Tribe Marketing was just cancelled – strange I thought as I have never broken the TOS of the forums and never commented about Scribe SEO at all on the forums.
  • I think @DebNG mentioned ScribeSEO and said great things about it. It's a nice tool for copywriters who admittedly aren't SEO professionals but who understand the importance and value.

    Best,

  • Thanks Marie, it certainly does help and simplifies the pretty complex and often bewildering world of SEO.
  • I tried it on 2.8 and so far it seems to work.
btw – is there a way for this to work with wp-super-cache?
  • Good, I haven't tested on 2.8. There's no reason why it wouldn't work with super cache as it doesn't affect anything on the pages, merely analyzes your post and suggests changes.
  • Your video about SNipe is absolutely awesome
  • Hi, Joel. I really liked your video review of Scribe, so I bought it earlier today using your affiliate link. Just thought I'd post a reply to say hello. I'm working on a review of Scribe myself (I'm already an affiliate) and hope to have that done soon.

  • Thanks Pat, glad you like it! It is a great tool, good luck with your review.
  • Hi Joel

Just found your blog - some interesting stuff on here! Bit random, but I'm looking for some info on doing 301 redirects on Windows 2000 servers for a friend's site. I don't have access to the control panel and as it's a shared server the hosting company won't install ISAPI re-write. Any ideas? Thanks and keep blogging!
  • Hi, Joel:

Found your blog via Twitter, love the design and content, so have added you to my RSS feed.

Regarding Snipe, are you using it? I keep reading about it everywhere, lots of peeps are blogging about the SEO plugin. But it's quite pricey with a monthly cost, as opposed to a one time cost...for a plugin.

Let me know how you're using it. Would love to hear more. Cheers!
  • Thanks Missy. I haven't used Snipe, but am loving using this plugin at the moment, it has a few issues but is pretty great overall and provides something to think about when writing posts.
